Tired of what you’re listening to? Me too. That’s why I bought four more songs today and here they are (but read on, because I will then become philosophical):
“Keep it for Your Own” by Pop Etc,
By Monsters and Men we have “Mountain Sound”,
“Kill Your Heroes” by Awolnation, and
“Female Robbery” by The Neighborhood.
Have you noticed how strange band names are becoming? There are so many of them and most seem to be here today and then gone tomorrow.
That’s not the way they made music when I was growing up, and I watched in amusement as the teenagers in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” searched and searched for the infamous “Heroes” by David Bowie after hearing it on their car radio one night. Of course today our children can find any song ever played just by typing in a few key words on endless websites, but back then (the movie took place in the early 1990’s, the internet was still food for thought… we have certainly come a long way in a very short time).
The Rolling Stones,
The Grateful Dead…
these bands have lived on, and I love it when one of my children suddenly discovers one of them, coming to me all excited to share their good fortune. I wonder if their children will be “finding” the songs I write of today. They will probably have Ipods built into their bodies alongside their google searches and their tracking devices.
I’m ready to move back into a cave with no electricity. You?
