Movie Review: End of Watch

Jake Gyllenhaal will undoubtedly be nominated for an Academy Award for his portrayal of an LAPD cop in his latest movie, “End of Watch”.  We saw it last night: me, my husband, and my sixteen year old son.  We give it a hearty three thumbs up.

I love cop movies, and firefighter movies, and sports movies.  Police officers and firefighters risk their lives for us every day, and they could never be paid enough to compensate them and their families for the danger that hides behind every door they knock down, every call they answer, every person that they pull over on the side of the road.

“End of Watch” follows two police officers, Zavala and Taylor, played by Michael Pena and Jake Gyllenhaal.  Together, nothing is too dangerous for them.  They risk their lives all the time, and they are like brothers to each other, despite their religious and educational backgrounds.

Anna Kendricks is brilliant.  That’s all I’m going to say, because I don’t want to ruin anything.

The movie is fantastic.  You will love it.  Don’t miss it.
