Ever realize how sometimes you have no plans for days at a time and suddenly you have two or three invitations… all for the same night? It seems to happen all the time.
I loved Todd Rundgren as a teenager. I used to listen to “Something/Anything” over and over. I knew all the words by heart, and sang along badly, and loudly.
Last year Todd Rundgren was playing and I asked my husband if he wanted to go with me. “He’s too loud,” my husband responded. “Too loud?” I asked, perplexed. The last thing I think of when I think of Todd Rundgren is loud. He’s soulful, quiet.
Guess what? My husband was thinking of someone else. I’m still not sure who it was, but he “blew his ears out” at a show years ago. Hmmm.
Todd Rundgren is playing at City Winery tonight. When my husband saw the tickets go on sale a few months ago he bought tickets for us. Guess what? The Academy Awards are tonight. Guess what? The Academy Awards are my favorite show of the year. Guess what else? Nobody wants our Todd Rundgren tickets, so we’re going. We’re taping the Oscars.
When it rains it pours.
