Soon We Can Live Forever

This morning I saw a segment on the news which reported that soon we will be able to live forever.  Not only will scientists have figured out how to stop aging but they will be able to reverse it.

My question is: Why?

Why would we want to live forever? One old guy who was interviewed said that “It’s fun” to live.  Okay.  So have fun now.  How much more fun are you going to have when you’re 125 than when you’re 95? And what about overpopulation and limited natural resources and high unemployment? Has anyone thought about these issues while they are devising plans to keep the old older and older and ancient?

I am all for living and having fun and enjoying every day, but really… do we need to live forever? I’m afraid that this latest scheme is going to add to the inevitable end of the world as we know it.  A hastened 21st Century Ice Age.  Another Noah’s Ark situation, this time the ark filled with geriatrics who cannot miss their next Pilates or zumba class.

If it is going to happen though, I’m going back to school to become a plastic surgeon or dermatologist.  At least then I won’t have to worry about running out of money, right?

Right.

  1. Hi, I think your site might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your website in Safari, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, fantastic blog!
