Happy Birthday Mom, We Miss You

Today my Mom would have been 75 years old, but we lost her almost two years ago.  Today could have been a big family celebration, but instead it is a day of sadness, where she is first and foremost on our minds, but not with us to enjoy our love.

If my Mom was alive today here are some things she would enjoy:

Having her family around her,

Receiving some really expensive dark chocolate covered orange peels from Teuscher,

A Mallomar or two,

Playing Pai Gow Poker with my Dad,

Drinking some white wine on ice,

Smoking a couple of cigarettes (though she had given those up long ago… cold turkey… she was a very tough cookie when she had to be),

Eating as little “real” food as possible… maybe some scrambled eggs with bacon and toast with jelly for dinner which she could push around her plate, or a hotdog with french fries,

A bite of marrow from an Osso Buco bone perhaps? I am definitely overdoing the food though, as she was not a food lover by any means,

Playing some video slot machines,

Winning at something in the casino,

Getting a LOT of attention from everyone.

Here is something my Mom would not have wanted on her 75th birthday:

She was allergic to flowers, though she could name every single stem she passed.

We love you Mommy.  We miss you.  Happy Birthday.
