Gary Clark Jr. rocked out at The Talkhouse last night. The show was totally sold out, and there was a serious East End celebrity crowd in attendance. This guy can really play the guitar and sing. He is only twenty-seven years old, a tall, gangly black guy, clad in jeans, unlaced workbooks, a black wife beater, a hat, with a black bandana tied around his wrist.
The band had only three members. Joining Gary were a bassist who switched back and forth from electric to the largest acoustic bass I’ve ever seen, and a very cool drummer, wearing the only color on the stage — red jeans and a red bandana (The Bandana Band?).
Who was there?
Paul McCartney (who is his plastic surgeon? If you know please let me know asap! He looks like he’s thirty-five years old. No jowls any more.),
Jon Bon Jovi (his hair is short! but he looks amazing!),
Countess Luann from The Real Housewives of New York City, looking a bit like a female impersonator,
John Mayer, and
Jan Wenner were all in close proximity.
Gary Clark Jr. is the real deal folks. Check him out! He is going to be very big. Very big. Right now he is still at that adorable humble place. Every time we clapped or stood in appreciation, his face lit up with joy. He seemed to be thinking,
“Holy cow! They’re all clapping for me! Even Paul McCartney and Jon Bon Jovi.”
