Movie Review: “Hangover 2”

Let me begin by saying that we all (me, my boyfriend and my daughter and son) preferred “Bridesmaids”, but “Hangover 2” is definitely worth seeing too if you like to laugh.  We did not belly laugh as much as we did at “Bridesmaids”, but we were definitely amused.  “Bridesmaids” is one of those comedies where you burst into laughter three minutes after a joke just thinking about it again, and you can’t stop.  “Hangover 2” isn’t, but you will chuckle.

But this review is not about “Bridesmaids” — I already reviewed that.  Let’s move on and I will tell you what we thought of “Hangover 2”.

Who wins for best actor in “Hangover 2”?

The monkey!

The monkey smokes cigarettes.  He wears a little denim vest with the Sticky Fingers tongue on the back.  He is adorable, and a really good actor.

Bradley Cooper is as cute as a button.  He is sexy and devilish, with a gleam in his beautiful eyes and he exudes just a hint of trouble out of every pore.

Zach Galifiankis is crazier than ever.  He mispronounces words hysterically and is prejudiced and abrasive to everyone without meaning to be.  He pronounces Thailand as “Thigh”land, and other such things.  Several years after “The Hangover” he is now officially a Stay-at-Home-Child, who bosses his parents around nonstop and lives in his childhood room, covered with pictures of that “lost” night in Vegas that he spent with his bffs.  Going to Thailand now with his long lost friends is the highlight of his adult life.

Ed Helms (the dentist), the groom to be, finds himself in big trouble again as he prepares to walk down the aisle with his true love.  He protects himself against getting into any kind of trouble with “the guys” this time, but of course his attempts prove futile.  It ends up that he is truly the craziest guy out of the whole bunch, and he plays the part wonderfully, embracing his insanity.

Don’t leave before the credits finish.  The best part of the film is the photos from this year’s “lost night” which are retrieved at the very end of the movie.

“Hangover 2” is cute and clever.  It won’t change your life, but it will amuse you for a couple of hours.  We give it four thumbs up.
